Hi! I'm
Dr. Kimberley Palmiotto
Therapist, School Psychologist,
Author, Coach...GIRL MOM!
I help moms of tween and teen girls navigate the roller coaster of puberty and adolescence!
What is Nurturing Girls?
Nurturing Girls was developed as a way for moms of girls to find support and education about adolescence and how they can navigate it with their daughters while maintaining a connection. Many of my clients in my therapeutic practice come to me when their daughters start puberty or enter adolescence because they find that the old ways of parenting just don't work anymore and they are at a loss. Moms don't understand how they could have been so close to their daughters and now they struggle with finding ways to connect and communicate with her like they used to. On top of that, the discipline that used to work is getting push back and it often leads to battles at home.
In order to reach a larger group of moms, I decided to move to a coaching format, to help moms and daughters understand some of the core components of what might be happening and how they might even be contributing to some of the challenges without realizing it. Instead of therapy, most moms and daughters just need someone to coach them through the process. Someone to be their guide and mirror while they navigate the sometimes rocky waters of the teen years. We do this together through...
Education
Understanding the physical and cognitive changes related to adolescence is not something that we typically learn about as parents. There is no "What to expect" book for this stage. Providing moms and daughters the gift of knowledge about how their brain and body impact their lives during this time is crucial in the process.
Reflection
Even when we think we are being self-reflective, sometimes we tend to fool ourselves. This happens because we have been parenting in a way that has worked with her for so long that it is often hard to see any other way. Learning tools for self reflection and then sharing them with your daughter is not only a gift for your relationship but one that she will use in her own life moving forward.
Coaching
Having someone to be your guide through the process is a way to help you through support but also help you uncover the role you might be playing in the relationship. It is often very hard for us to see this part of it. Working with someone to assist you demystify her behavior and actions, as well as your own, is often very helpful.
Collaboration
Working together toward a common goal is something we teach our children that they should do regularly. However, we don't often think of this in the parenting field. Finding ways to collaborate with your parenting partner as well as your daughter often is a missing piece in relationships that can make a big difference in rebalancing them to harmony and calm.

WHAT'S NEW?
The Social Media Bundle
Navigating the digital world, especially social media can feel overwhelming for us as moms. This resource was developed to help moms understand the foundations of introducing and managing social media with their teen daughters.
You will find 3 video modules (along with the audio files) to help explain the basics of social media and how it impacts our girls, as well as strategies and tips to help you talk about it and develop a plan for managing it with your daughters.
Social media has pros and cons but without guidance it can easily get out of control during adolescence.
The Friendship Bundle
Teen friendship is hard! It can feel overwhelming for our girls, but also for us at times when we don't know how to help her.
As a result of my interactions with so many moms and daughters that struggle with managing this topic, I developed this newest resource for the Nurturing Girls community.
You will find a 40-minute video about all things teen friendships, along with some supplemental handouts for you (Mom).
It also includes a short digestible video for girls as well with a few handouts for them to use (if they want to).
The goal of this bundle is to help you both understand how friendship dynamics change in adolescence, so you can navigate the process just a little easier.
Find the bundle by clicking the button below or just purchase the video by itself HERE.
